City Council elects to form working group to study reduced speed limit as vote on 25 mph ordinance hits speed bump
Today could have been the day when Chicago joined New York City, Boston, Seattle, Portland, and even neighboring suburb Evanston in voting in favor of reducing the speed limit in the city to 25 mph. However, questions and concerns among fellow City Council members were numerous enough for Ald. Daniel La Spata (1st) to take the expected vote off the agenda for today's City Council meeting.

Justice for South Side Dad Who Was Right-Hooked in 31st Street Protected Lane
There’s some good news in the case of Andrew Berg, a South Side father who was struck and injured by a right-turning driver while bicycling in the 31st Street protected bike lane last May. After suing the driver and winning the case in arbitration, yesterday he received a settlement to cover his hospital bills, pain and suffering, and damage to his cycle.

Truck That Hit-and-Run Dustin Valenta Shows Up on Security Footage
Amazingly, Dustin Valenta, doored then run over by a driver who fled the scene on February 8, resulting in a cracked skull and vertebrae, broken shoulder blades and pelvis, 23 fractured ribs and a punctured lung, is giving interviews and even walking a bit. Valenta, 27, a delivery biker with Cut Cats Courier, yoga teacher and actor, was commuting north on Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park when a motorist opened her door in his path in front of Artemio’s Bakery, 1443 North Milwaukee. Valenta was thrown off his bike into the street, then struck by the second vehicle.
