Correction 12/19/25, 3:45 PM: Based on a Google Streetview image I was referred to by one of Walter Mahoney's former coworkers, I reported that Mahoney was struck in a marked intersection with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons. Update 12/6/25 12:15 AM: As discussed on the Facebook post for this article, car activists are planning a protest against the Archer Complete Streets project this Monday 12/8, 4:30 p.m. at Ald. Ramirez's office, 3836 S. Archer Avenue. The nearby group Gage Park Cyclists is inviting supporters of the street remix to show up to demonstrate support for the plan.

• ATA: "With current infra bond set for vote in the December or January Council meeting, renewing it is vital to keep [Complete Streets] momentum going." 

The department needs to promptly plow bikeways after blizzards, or else face arguments that riders were better off with old-style, paint-only bike lanes.

Yesterday's #GivingTuesday was very cold and snowy, and the protected bike lanes were generally still full of the white stuff long after the storm. (Don't worry, Streetsblog is still trying to get to the bottom of that issue.) But at least a dozen of us pedaled to one of Chicagoland's most vibrant celebrations of the livable streets movement, the Active Transportation Alliance's annual member party.
