See You at Our Meetup Wednesday at Harbee Liquors & Tavern in Pilsen

For this month’s Streetsblog Chicago reader meetup, we’re heading to Pilsen for a hangout session at Harbee Liquors & Tavern, a mainstay of the neighborhood since the 1870s.

Here’s the skinny on the meetup:

August Streetsblog Chicago Reader Meet-up
Wednesday, August 16, 6-8 p.m.
Harbee Liquors & Tavern
1345 W. 18th Street
RSVP on Facebook if you like

Harbee is located about a ten-minute walk east from the Pink Line's 18th Street station, and it’s also served by the 18th Street, Ashland, and #60 Blue Island/26th CTA bus lines. There’s a Divvy station just around the corner from the bar on Blue Island south of 18th.

According to a DNAinfo article, Harbee was opened in 1878 as Harvey's, but a licensing mistake inadvertently changed the name. Today it's a cozy bar with a great beer selection that draws a cross-section of Pilsen community members. They don't serve food, but you're welcome to bring in your own from one of the many excellent restaurants along 18th. I recommend La Casa Del Pueblo Taqueria, located near the Divvy station at 1834 S. Blue Island.

Streetsblog’s meet-ups are always a great opportunity to hang out and network with folks who are passionate about sustainable transportation and livable streets. Hope to see you there!
