We’re hosting our monthly Streetsblog Chicago meetup and happy hour tomorrow, Wednesday September 7. For a change of pace, and to take advantage of the great weather, this month we'll be meeting up at City Winery's Chicago Riverwalk location, located on the south bank of the river between State and Dearborn streets (not to be confused with their Randolph Street location). Our meetups are a great opportunity to hang out and network with folks who are passionate about sustainable transportation and livable streets. Here’s the skinny:

September Streetsblog Reader Meetup
Wednesday, September 7, 5:30-8 p.m. (probably somewhat later)
City Winery
11 Chicago Riverwalk (between State and Dearborn), Chicago

We should be hanging out at a few high-top tables. Obviously, it's an easy spot to get to from all the 'L' lines. The closest Divvy stations are near Clark/Lake, Randolph/State, and Wacker/Wabash.

Hang out with Streetsblog’s John Greenfield and Steven Vance, as well as fellow readers — you already know each other from the comments and social media.

We’ll have a few glasses or pints (the menu's a little upscale but locally brewed Lagunitas beer is available at a reasonable price) and talk about hot transportation and public space issues, be it the new Union Station Transit Center, Bronzeville pedestrian access issues, or the sorry state of key Chicago bikeways.

If you like, RSVP for the event on Facebook.

Hope to see you there!

Protected bike lanes are coming to Dearborn, Clark, and – maybe someday – Wells on Near North Side

Dearborn is getting northbound PBLs north of Kinzie, and Clark is getting southbound ones, but Wells Street will have to wait.

Taste of 79th Community Walk uses a stroll with a New Orleans-style brass band to highlight the corridor

Saturday's event was a reminder that there's no better way to get to know a neighborhood than taking a walk with others, enjoying live music, and supporting local businesses.

Check it out: Now it’s safer to get on and off the 312 RiverRun from Belmont Avenue

One of the coolest new things on the on-street route is the treatment of Belmont near and over the Chicago River, by the southern trailhead of the north-south path.
