Hit-and-Run Driver Fatally Strikes Female Pedestrian in West Rogers Park

Police are seeking a driver who fatally struck a 63-year-old woman in West Rogers Park and fled the scene.

On Sunday at around 6:50 p.m, Cynthia Goldsher was crossing northbound on the 2300 block of Howard Street, near Western Avenue, according to Officer Janel Sedovic from Police News Affairs. A driver who was heading west in a silver Ford Explorer SUV struck Goldsher and then fled south on Western.

Goldsher, who lived on the 9200 block of Skokie Boulevard in Skokie, was transported to Evanston’s Saint Francis Hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead on 12:22 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
