Yesterday, the City Council's Committee on Pedestrian and Traffic discussed the installation of new speed cameras this year. At the beginning of this year, Earlier this year, Chicago had 162 existing speed cams ,and Mayor Brandon Johnson announced plans to install 50 more. Officials said about 40 additional cameras were requested by alderpersons; 23 of which have been installed so far in April and May; 11 locations are currently being designed and installed; and the remainder are still under consideration.

The 2025 Illinois Bike & Walk Summit, billed as "the state’s most important conference related to biking and walking," was held this past week in Springfield, the state capital. It was organized by Ride Illinois, the statewide cycling advocacy organization.

Chicago Transit Authority has joined the podcast fray.

In a blog post last Thursday, the Regional Transportation Authority, which oversees the three local transit agencies, once again sounded the alarm that a $771 million total fiscal transit cliff is approaching next year if action is not taken now.

"If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."
