Update 12/6/25 12:15 AM: As discussed on the Facebook post for this article, car activists are planning a protest against the Archer Complete Streets project this Monday 12/8, 4:30 p.m. at Ald. Ramirez's office, 3836 S. Archer Avenue. The nearby group Gage Park Cyclists is inviting supporters of the street remix to show up to demonstrate support for the plan.

Five-lane, high-speed Pulaski Road on the Southwest Side has seen more than its share of deadly crashes recently. These included the tragic deaths of pedestrians Jiekun Xu in February 2024 and Charlie Mills in March of that year.

This Saturday in Brighton Park, Southwest Collective leads what they hope will be the first of many larger-scale rides on Southwest Side
This Saturday, May 3, the Southwest Collective will host the BIKE Brighton ride, starting from the Chicago Park District Headquarters, 4830 S. Western Ave., and cruise six miles through the Brighton Park neighborhood. The community group describes itself as "a collective of neighborhoods in the Midway [Airport] area, joining forces to improve the Southwest Side of Chicago."

On Tuesday, September 18, the Southwest Collective held a community meeting at Curie Metro High School, 4959 S Archer Ave., to discuss traffic safety issues on Pulaski Road. The panel included SWC Transit Advocacy Steward Dixon Galvez-Searle, local Alderperson Jeylú Gutiérrez (14th), Chicago Department of Transportation Traffic Engineer Jakob Boxberger, and Active Transportation Alliance Advocacy Manager Alex Perez.
