49th Ward says the car-free Glenwood Alfresco block is going back to drivers on weekdays. Nearby Jarvis Square will stay car-free.
Yesterday, Rogers Park resident Bradford Roberts shared a Facebook post stating the "Glenwood Alfresco" pedestrianized block north of Morse Avenue, opened in spring 2022, would be given back to cars on New Year's Eve. This part of Glenwood is on the west side of a Red Line embankment.

The plan to convert this half-mile stretch, part of the Glenwood-Greenview Greenway bike route connecting Uptown and Evanston, already had the blessing of the Chicago Department of Transportation.

Folks Want to be Able to Bike Safely on Rogers Park Side Street
With a new Alderwoman for the 49th Ward, there's hope biking infrastructure in the 49th Ward can be improved. Maria Hadden was elected to represent the Rogers Park community area over incumbent Joe Moore and started the job on May 20th, along with 11 other new alders.

Details on the Chill New Way to Bike to Evanston
Among the 20 new miles of bikeways the Chicago Department of Transportation has planned for 2018, one of the most useful new routes will be the Rogers Park Greenway. It will extend the popular Glenwood Greenway in Uptown and Edgewater by a couple of miles miles and create a low-stress way to visit Evanston, our neighbor to the north.
