Join Us on Wednesday 10/25 for a Meetup at Cole’s Bar

Image: Google Street View

This month Streetsblog Chicago will hold a reader meetup at Cole's Bar in Logan Square, one of my favorite all-purpose taverns in the city. Our meetups are always a great opportunity to hang out and network with folks who are passionate about sustainable transportation and livable streets. Streetsblog's Steven Vance will be departing the next day for a fact-finding tour of Europe, so this is your chance to bend his ear about new infrastructure and initiatives he should check out.

Here’s the skinny:

Streetsblog Meetup
Wednesday, October 25, 6-8 p.m. (probably somewhat later)
Cole's Bar
2338 North Milwaukee, Chicago
RSVP on Facebook if you like

Cole's is a block northwest of Logan Square's California Blue Line station, and it's also served by the Milwaukee, Fullerton, and Kedzie/California buses. There's a Divvy station just north of the station at California/Milwaukee.

Cole's is a cozy space with a good selection of affordable libations, and there's often some kind of interesting entertainment happening in the back room. At 9:30 p.m. on that evening there will be a comedy open mic, in case any of our readers feel like performing a side-splitting routine about the pros and cons of dockless bike-share. The bar doesn't serve food, but you're welcome to bring your own. Hope to see you there.

The de-facto ban on riverwalk biking is back. What should we do about it?

In the short term, new signage is needed to designate legal areas for cycling on the path. In the long term CDOT should build the proposed Wacker Drive protected bike lane.
