Toolkit Will Help Cities Bring Shared Mobility to Low-Income Neighborhoods
The Chicago-based Shared-Use Mobility Center hopes their new interactive toolkit, released last week, will help cities expand the use of car-sharing, bike-sharing, and other forms of shared mobility, especially in low-income communities with limited transportation options. The toolkit includes a Shared Mobility Benefits Calculator, a Shared Mobility Policy Database, and an Interactive shared Mobility Mapping and Opportunity Analysis Tool.

Transpo Leaders Brainstorm at the Shared-Use Mobility Center Launch
Transportation leaders from across the nation convened last week in Chicago to celebrate the launch of the Shared-Use Mobility Center, a nonprofit that will work to maximize the potential of car-sharing, ride-sharing, and bike-sharing services to benefit the public. The new organization will promote collaboration between the different services, and encourage cooperation between the growing industry and city governments, transit agencies, and community groups.

Local Non-Profit IGO Car Sharing Acquired by Enterprise, Expanding Network
IGO Car Sharing, owned and operated by the not-for-profit Center for Neighborhood Technology, was acquired by Enterprise, traditional car rental company, earlier this week for an undisclosed amount. Enterprise has its own car-share system, but the company will keep the IGO brand in Chicago.

Adapting Car-Share Ads to Market Bike-Share
On a recent trip on my "other bike," AKA the 'L,' I spotted two advertisements promoting Zipcar that could have easily been converted into advertisements for bike-share. Car-share and bike-share serve different purposes, but there's also some overlap -- car-share providers want to capture some trips that you could also make on a public bike. With Chicago's Divvy bike-share system set to launch soon, let's see whether we can adapt these Zipcar ads to the bike-share context.
