Latino Residents Are Being Displaced From Transit-Friendly Buildings in Albany Park
On Saturday morning, a large crowd of Albany Park residents and tenants gathered in front of the CTA Brown Line’s Kimball Station. The Autonomous Tenants Union and Sunnyside Manor Tenants Union, with the support of 33rd Ward Working Families, were there to deliver a letter to Albany Bank and Trust Company in the hopes of sending a message to developer Ron D. Abrams of Silver Property Group, whose properties are partly funded through the bank’s mortgage loans.

We’ve done write-ups of many bikeways the city installed this year as part of their effort to reach 100 miles of buffered and protected lane, including facilities on South Sacramento, South State, Vincennes, Clybourn, Milwaukee, and Washington. However, there were a few more new lanes I’d been meaning to check out, and some others that weren’t on my radar because the Chicago Department of Transportation hadn’t announced them on the bike program’s Facebook page. Recently, however, CDOT provided this list of bikeways they built this year:

Eyes on the Street: Albany Park Divvy Replaces Cars Parked on Sidewalk
A new Divvy station next to the CTA's Francisco Brown Line stop in Ravenswood Manor, one of several installed yesterday in the Albany Park community area, replaces parkway car parking spots – which often resulted in cars blocking the sidewalk – with 11 public bike-share docks.
