Forget about the anonymous, fear-mongering Friends of Dickens. Here's what real Chicagoans with names and faces think about the project.

Bike traffic increased after neighborhood greenways were installed on Berteau and Wood, but crashes went down. But that may not change the minds of the Not In My Back Yard Types on Dickens.

Residents are worried about the project bringing more "traffic" to the neighborhood, but they don't seem to grasp that, unlike car traffic, bike traffic is a good thing.

Neighbors opposed to the project have voiced NIMBY concerns about "privacy" and "safety."

There must be something in the water along Milwaukee Avenue, since lately Logan Square NIMBYs have been giving their Jefferson Park counterparts a run for their money. Exhibit A is an unintentionally hilarious flyer protesting plans for transit-oriented development in Logan, circulated by the local group Save Our Boulevards.

After a series of anti-bike columns in the Tribune, designed to tick off cyclists and rack up pageviews, John Kass crossed the line last May with a piece that implied motorists shouldn’t be expected to watch out for bikes before opening their car doors.
