Eyes on the Street: Lakefront Trail Separation Is Finished Between 31st and 41st
This morning city and park district officials cut the ribbon on the first completed section of the Lakefront Trail separation project between 31st and 41st Street. This provides a preview of what trail separation will look like on the rest of the trail between 71st and Ardmore – where there’s sufficient space to create different paths for pedestrians and bicyclists. Separation along the entire lakefront is slated to be completed in 2018.

Ride Your Bike: Remembering Fallen Cyclist Blaine Klingbenberg One Year Later
In 2016, Chicago garnered the number one spot in Bicycling Magazine’s 50 Best Bikes Cities. The same year there were six bike fatalities. It seemed like Ghost Bikes memorials were being installed every other week, leaving many in the cycling community wondering just how bike-friendly Chicago streets actually were. One of the six lives lost was Bakersfield, California native Blaine “Beezy” Klingenberg, who was 29 years old.

CDOT Presented Awards to Advocates at Today’s Soggy, Fun Bike to Work Rally
This morning’s dismal weather didn’t seem to dampen people’s spirits at the annual Bike to Work Rally, the traditional kickoff for Chicago's Bike Week. The highlight of the event was a rain-soaked live rendition of youth education center Blackstone Bicycle Works’ awesome new Rhymefest-produced safety video “Stay in Your Lane,” featuring kids holding up colorful cardboard cutouts of bike wheels and cycles. Chicago’s ‘L’ Train Turned 125 Years Old Yesterday — What’s Next for the System?
The Chicago Transit Authority celebrated the 125th anniversary of the 'L' yesterday by bringing out rapid transit cars built in 1923 and in 1976. The Chicago & South Side Rapid Transit Railroad Company commenced "Alley L" service on June 6, 1892, in an alley east of State Street between Congress Parkway and 39th Street, according to the CTA. The CTA also highlighted its own 70 years of service. The authority was created in 1947 to unify the different bus, streetcar, and elevated companies.
