DNAinfo should give you a weekly column, John. Their website could use a new approach to urbanism. Each time they write about something commuting-related, it’s always car centric.

  • Anne A

Fake mobile ticket on Metra, eh? I wondered how long it would take for that problem to show up.

  • Anne A

I’d love to see Hyde Park businesses offering discounts to people who come by bike. More bike parking would be good, too.

  • Chicagoan

Agreed. In Uptown, Fat Cat (4840 N. Broadway) offers people free appetizers if they arrive by bike, use the bike rack out front, then take a selfie.

Post it on Facebook (or whatever) and you can order some free fried macaroni/cheese bites.

  • Anne A

    Great idea!

  • I fail to see how yanking a Midway Plaisance circulator that only runs during weekday rush periods is going to affect anything at all going on at Harper Court.

  • johnaustingreenfield

No direct connection other than that these two things are taking place in the same neighborhood. It just seems kind of ironic that, at the same time transit service is being reduced, people are being encouraged to drive via free parking vouchers.

  • johnaustingreenfield

Thanks. AYMK, I already do a transportation column for the Reader. But it would certainly be an honor to write for the same publication as noted protected bike lane proponent Mark Konkol.

  • About as ironic as Naperville building a free parking garage downtown at the same time that a rushhour Pace route between Plainfield and the Route 59 Metra station gets axed…
