    Here’s another example of a school speed zone camera that seems ridiculous. It’s an area where speeding is definitely a problem, however, I question whether students would actually cross there to reach St. Rita High School. There is a crosswalk, but traffic sure doesn’t stop for pedestrians there. Walking a block further and crossing at the stoplight would make a lot more sense. I appreciate that traffic is slower and saner there now with the camera.

    I agree that the Park/School rule for Speed Cams is a bad idea, but I wonder aloud whether there would be speed cams at all without the stipulation. Perhaps it’s the cynic in me, but I highly doubt the political courage existed (exists) to vote for a measure this unpopular with motorists if there wasn’t some sort of “string” attached to the program.
