The link for the street resurfacing article goes to the barge sinking article, just FYI.

I’m not at all surprised about the West Loop boom around the new Morgan station. That area was not very well served by transit but otherwise had great potential. Getting much better transit access seems to be just what it needed.

  • NorthSure

Great, now let’s put back the Damen and Western stations ( though I think the original stop was at either Oakley or Campbell?).

  • “Rahm Announces $12.5 in State Funds” — $12.5M, perhaps?

I find it hard to believe that Restaurant Row expansion wouldn’t have happened without the Morgan stop. I’m sure the new stop helped the neighborhood, but to attribute ALL of the improvements to an area that was already on the cusp of gentrification is a bit of a stretch. Some (most?) of that development would have occurred without the stop.

  • Note that news item 2 about resurfacing includes $1 million to resurface and patch 1.5 miles of streets before new bike lanes are installed.

Exactly. Correlation does not imply causation.
