Great Grohl headline, John. One of your underappreciated skills.

  • Thanks. I’m looking forward to reading what Going Public columnist and expert pun-dit Tracy Swartz does with that one.

BBC today has a great piece on the traffic-calming effects of snow, including some quotes from StreetFilms people!

“I think it’s a technology issue. You have 19th century technology operating in 21st
    century Chicago. … I asked
one Metra person last week about their switches, and it’s hard for the
average person to believe that you need someone to physically clear
    these switches by hand.”

This is consistent with what I’ve heard so often when I talk to conductors on my train. Whether we’re talking about switches, signals or ticketing, most aspects of Metra’s technology are many decades away from being modern. It’s a major weakness and one that requires significant investment.
