Awesome that there will be a new L stop next to United. I was just recently riding the Pink Line and lamenting that there wasn’t a transit stop closer to United. Hopefully this can also spur some housing development that can replace some of the parking lots.

Instead of building some massive reworking of the site to get the additional beachfront, wny not put Lakeshore Drive on a road diet and build transit infrastructure instead? Or shoot, don’t build anything, and make it a bus/bikeway?

Reworking the beaches means they’ll be closed for a long time, and the traffic from infill, unless done by ship, will be monumental.

Easier solution is to treat Lake Shore Drive like a street, not a highway, and slim it down. Lots and lots of situations where citys have been transformed by such projects. Here’s one list: http://gizmodo.com/6-freeway-removals-that-changed-their-cities-forever-1548314937

This is LONG overdue. If it helps to spur replacement of some parking lots with housing and businesses, that would be a double plus.

The Green Line station at Damen is great news, I think it’s only a matter of time before Western gets a station as well.

Now, they just need to build a Pink Line station at Madison and the United Center will be served by three different lines!
