Is there an estimated completion date for the Milwaukee Ave project? Hopefully they’re able to work rather quickly – it’s tricky to traverse in the meantime with the top pavement layer off and the manhole covers popping up like an obstacle course!

  • I’ll look into it.

  • Per CDOT spokesman Pete Scales, “Depending on the weather, we hope to have the resurfacing part of the project complete during the week of Memorial Day.”

Interesting how publications can convey a message differently.

While you could argue that this is simply repaving plus some other maintenance like installing ADA compliant curb-cuts for pedestrians, Crains decides to call it “tearing up” Milwaukee. That makes it sound as if the city is undertaking this enormously expensive boondoggle to placate cyclists.
